St Anne School

1-30 Summit Avenue, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410-2016

Hello again and welcome to the month of February. Due to scheduling the children are still learning about penguins. We will be celebrating Black and White Day on Wednesday, February 12th. Parents are invited to come into the classroom between 1PM and 2PM to see the projects and activities we've been working on. Please make sure your child wears black and white to school that day. If they want to wear a penguin shirt that is not black and white, that's fine too. February is also Black History Month. We will be reading and learning about famous African Americans who have made significant contributions in our world. If you have any questions or concerns please email me. Hoping to see you on Black and White Day! Mrs. LoBue

Happy New Year one and all!!!

It's chilly in the Reading Resource Room. The penquins have arrived! Throughout the month of January and maybe a few weeks into February, the children in grades K-4 will be learning about penquins through a variety of grade appropriate reading and writing activities. The unit will include activities for reading, language arts, social studies, math, science and art. We will end the unit with a Black and White Day celebration.

The third grade is just about finished learning all of the cursive uppercase letters. They will soon be taking their spelling tests in cursive. Way to go third grade!!!

We're all looking forward to Catholic Schools Week 2020! Please be sure to check the CSW calendar for the fun events planned.

October with Mrs. LoBue!

Throughout the month of October I will again be supporting the K,1,2,3, and  4th grade teachers, reinforcing and reviewing work taught in their classrooms. The kindergarten class will be working on letter and sound recognition.First and second graders are learning about fiction vs non-fiction. Super and Super Duper Magazines are components of the SuperKIds Reading Series which will be used to enhance the curriculum. Third grade has been working very hard on their cursive writing skills. The fourth grade will be reviewing complete subjects and predicates and learning to identify important information in non-fiction text. The children all love listening to a good story. This month's selections will be a variety of fall and Halloween theme-based books.

Please remember to make sure your child is reading every day. Shared reading is always fun and an opportunity for you as parents to spend some quality time with your children and observe their strengths and weaknesses.
